2021.10.18 13:42 Heisenberg9322 Please help getting grain free!
Hi! Needing some advice concerning grain free dry food. I have a couple of cats and my friend gas 3 with sensitive stomachs and need the grain free recipe so where not in distress. I used to get mine from sainsburys, but they had a recall and I can't trust them after that, wilko used to have a small bag which was ideal as a temporary fix but it seems they have stopped selling it. I have looked at Harringtons and some other brand but they have other grains in, not wheat but barley and maybe oats or something ans they're equally as bad for them, this is going off how they act and their general wellbeing after being fed those foods.
I really need help getting something for them, I had a good chance with a local "shop" but turns out they're selling bootleg One & Only food, I have been in contact with their head office and it turns out they DO NOT SHIP TO THE UK. So definitely fishy as hell.

2021.10.18 13:42 kevkevfuuuuu Long ramble about early 2010s tech nostalgia
I honestly miss the way programs and operating systems overall looked and worked about 10 years ago!
I am in my early 20s, and I started getting really interested in computers and technology about 10 years ago. So everything I'm talking about is probably just childhood nostalgia hitting me, but even without that factor I still think there's a certain magic to old software that today's software just doesn't deliver.
Windows itself, for instance. Windows 7 had this super awesome glass interface called Aero, where the windows, taskbar, start menu and other UI elements were see-through and glassy looking like... y'know, actual windows. It was so glossy and gorgeous and just a joy to look at! You could even change the color and transparency of this glass effect, or turn off the transparency altogether. Sure, it was resource intensive, especially for the time (computing power sure took a leap compared to what we had a decade ago). But if your computer couldn't handle it, Windows would simply fall back to a basic but still decent looking interface without any of those glass effects and animations. And if you wanted to go even more basic, you could use the Classic interface which came straight from Windows 2000, with completely customizable colors and fonts and all. Or with a third party patch, you could download and use new visual styles by the community that changed the look of the UI more drastically. Windows overall was just so much more customizable back in those days. Nowadays in Windows 10, it has this flat bland interface where the window buttons look like they were drawn in Paint, and all we can officially change is whether we want a light or dark interface, what color it should have in some spots, and whether it should be transparent or not... that is pretty much it. It does the job for most Windows users, sure, but I still find it bland and boring personally. Windows 11 simplifies the UI even more and strips away BASIC customizability, like being able to move the taskbar or shrink it down. WTF?
And it's not just looks! Windows prior to 10 simply got out of your way, it didn't change settings on it's own, it didn't try to force updates, it didn't nag you with ads and sponsored links and wanting you to switch to Edge, and overall the UI was simple, easy to understand and consistent. Now, I do like the start menu of Windows 10 (I'm probably one of 3 people on earth who make good use of the tiles), but that is about the only thing I like better about 10 compared to 7, aside from it being snappier and supporting modern hard- and software of course.
And then there's web browsers, arguably the second most important type of software on most people's computers. I remember the Firefox 3/4 era, back when it was my favorite browser. Firefox was the most customizable mainstream browser period, and as a young nerd that loved to tinker, I loved that! It had themes, not just simple pictures behind the toolbars but full blown visual styles that completely changed the UI apperance, it let you move and swap buttons around, and it's extensions had virtually unlimited possibilities on what they could do. It was the power user's browser and it was simply fantastic. Firefox 4 upped it a notch with the new simpler interface, tabs on top, the menu button in the top left, and better looks with the Aero interface. I remember being flabbergasted about 4's new UI. And it still kept all the settings and switches to change the UI layout back to how it was to 3 for people who preferred it. Fast foward 8-10 years and a couple UI redesigns later, nowadays Firefox feels like just another Chrome clone. So many customization options were stripped away or now require third party unsupported hacks and scripts, and the UI in general is just flat and bland. Visual styles haven't been a thing for years, and extensions cannot modify the UI anymore, just web content. What was once the most customizable web browser is now just another dumbed down one that blends in with all the others. It's a shame really.
I could say the same thing about Opera. The "classic" Opera (before the switch to Chrome's engine) was a unique piece of software with an integrated mail client, the speed dial page, the tab groups (which I loved back then and still do) and many other features that weren't part of other browsers at the time. And, while not as extensive and varied as Firefox's offerings, it also had full blown themes and extensions to change how things looked and worked. I remember both browsers having 3rd party Aero themes which changed the entire UI to a glassy transparent look. Not the best for usability, but it looked really damn cool to teenage-me at the time. But once again, fast forward a few years, and it's yet another Chrome clone. It offers a VPN and a resource usage limiter, so it still has some things going for it, sure, but the original spirit of Opera is completely lost. Thankfully the old Opera team gathered to create Vivaldi which is the spiritual successor of Opera (and also my browser of choice) and has most of the features old Opera had as well, so I don't miss the old Opera as much as the old Firefox.
I could also ramble about Linux and my nostalgia about it, but then this post would be twice as long... besides, the Linux world has remained more static looks- and functionality wise over the past 10 years anyway. Ubuntu is still Ubuntu, Linux Mint is still Linux Mint, GNOME 3 is still GNOME 3, KDE is still KDE, and so on - with some improvements and setbacks inbetween of course.
I get that computers and mainstream software in general evolve to become simpler and more straight forward because more and more people are using tech and computers every day, so it's important to make tech as easy and straight forward as possible. But I still find it unfortunate that companies that once delivered unique and customizable tools and software have decided to go with the flow and follow what phone operating systems and Chrome are doing simply because they're the most popular. And it makes me even moreso happy about projects and companies like various Linux software and Vivaldi that do the opposite of dumbing down their software and offering as much customization as possible, while looking good doing it, because they know there's quite a lot of power users and techies out there that love tinkering and tailoring their tools to their needs and wants.
I don't mind using Windows 10 and modern "dumber" software, but if I had the option to go back to the programs and tech I used 10 years ago without compromising security, usability and compatibility in todays age, I would certainly take it!

2021.10.18 13:42 Celestialaphroditite Crib replacing bassinet
Our almost 3 month old has outgrown her Halo Bassinet. She still fits in it but because she moves so much in her sleep she is either waking up upset that her face is against the side or I have to ninja move her in the middle of the night before that happens. She was sleeping through the night before this week and I think it’s just because she is now waking up due to her small quarters. She just had a 9 week growth spurt so I’m thinking this is the result of that. So I’m wondering, is just moving the crib into our room too aggressive? Or should I use the pac and play. I’m really going to miss the bassinet because it swivels onto the bed for easy assess to her, but I also am now losing sleep.

2021.10.18 13:42 xoxodeeecook Thanks for letting me join the community! Newbie GoodNotes user here :)
I was just curious if there was a way to insert bullet points for note-taking purposes rather than using the shapes tool? I use a Bluetooth keyboard on my iPad and I just want to make sure that when utilizing the text option (my handwriting is downright terrible and hard to read most days) I am able to use bullet points. If you have any tips or pointers to throw my way, too, that would be great!

2021.10.18 13:42 MachineTeacher778 What's wrong with One 2 TKL production?
I was born in Korea and now am living in Canada. I have been looking for all the stores in Korea, Taiwan, US, Mainland China, etc. which provide overseas shipping option, to purchase One 2 TKL, preferably with RGB, not Tuxedo/Bon Voyage.
Surprisingly and annoyingly I was not able to find any in stock anywhere regardless of where they are located.
Every store has some of Shine 7 and Tuxedo, a little of the full-sized, and a huge number of Mini....all of which I do not really want.
No store sells RGB TKL version in particular, and this shortage has been lasting for a couple of months.
I am really curious whether Ducky closes the production line for TKL version only. Already a number of Korean customers are complaining to their local distributor.
Ah, of course there might be currently an abundant stock only in Canada, because any Ducky products are priced approx. 30% higher than the worldwide average and no one can afford it if available.
Are 60% keyboards THAT popular among gamers and developers? Even in Craigslist every posting on sale is Mini, and few offer TKL and Shine 7 on sale.
